RYLA 2015 concluded on the 28th of March 2015 following 7 days of fun, fellowship and learning.
28 young people aged 18-25 as well as 4 returning RYLArians who returned as leaders of the teams participated in the whole range of seminars and activities designed to enrich and inspire them.
The activities included Abseiling, Flying Fox and a team based obstacle course which both challenged and got dirt in all sorts of places.
One of the highlights was the annual RYLA dinner hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Macksville & Nambucca Heads at the Macksville ex- services club. Attended by about 110 people including our participants and their leaders, the dinner featured Sam & Jenny Bailey as our Guest Speakers accompanied by a performance from the RYLA team, accompanied by a bagpiper as you're the voice was performed for those assembled.
We met the fisrt RYLA participants from 1971 as well as a good sprinkling of past RYLA graduates all the way through to the 2015 crew.
The program has inspired and changed everyone in some way and they will go back to their communities as better citizens.
Unfortunately only half of our clubs sent someone this year - hopefully this will be changed in 2016. Several employers see RYLA as a great development tool for their staff and send and pay for them to attend RYLA.
We will confirm RYLA dates for 2016 shortly and will update our page soon.
Will one of your gifts to the world in 2016 be sending a young person to RYLA to have an opportunity to change who they are and who they wish to be?
We hope to increase our numbers to around 45 and seek your support.
Regards
The District 9650 RYLA Committee.
