Donations desperately needed to fund the rebuilding of village and school
For almost 15 years Port Macquarie Sunrise has supported the Mera Primary School & the Kharikhola Village in the remote Everest Region of Nepal.
We initially supported teachers' salaries, then provided scholarships for disadvantaged children, created a fruit & vegetable garden, built a kitchen to provide hot meals. The health of the students has dramatically improved due to fresh vegetables & hot meals.
Our recent project was the supply & erection of a very large solar greenhouse to extend the growing season. This has enabled the village to feed itself in these catastrophic times. Our club video shows the green house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jas7VtivrhU
The first earthquake damaged 150 houses. The second earthquake caused serious damage to the Mera School which, over the past few weeks, had become a sanctuary for those unable to live in their homes. The kitchen is unusable and a school wall has collapsed.
Please help us assist with the reconstruction, by donating through our nepalsunrise website http://www.nepalsunrise.com/ Use the donate button - this will take you to our RAWCS Kharikhola Project Page.
All funds will be channelled through the RC of Patan South in Nepal.
